ILS Practitioner / Mental Health Practitioner
Full-Time POSITION
REQUIRED SHIFTS: Shifts Vary
WAGE RANGE: $12.50-$17.00 per hour.

LOCATION: South St. Paul
DESCRIPTION: Mental Health Practitioner’s will provide training to individuals living in the community with diagnoses of a Mental Illness and/or Brain Injuries. A practitioner’s role will be working with participants in the following areas:
- Crisis Intervention: providing support in the overnight hours in a crisis intervention role. A candidate must possess the clinical skills to de-escalate situations that may arise with participants. A candidate must also be able to discern when emergency services are necessary.
- Communication Skills: a candidate must be able to communicate to lead staff during periods of crisis. Candidates must be able to problem solve independently, with participants and with supervisors to manage crisis situations.
- Organizational Skills: overnight candidates must possess the skills to assist in filing, organization and other tasks that are directed by their supervisor.
MISCELLANEOUS: this position requires driving to programs to do rounds, some light cleaning of staff offices, and other various assigned tasks.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be able to pass a Department of Human Services background check.
Applicants must be orientated in a person centered approach.
Applicants must be able to organize and work independently.
Applicants must have strong written and oral communications skills and must be able to document in an objective and effective manner.
Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
Applicants must have a working vehicle with auto insurance which is valid.
Applicants must be able to lift 40 lbs or more.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year of experience working with persons with Mental Illness diagnoses, CD histories, Brain Injuries or Developmental Disability diagnoses.
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School or equivalent.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or another Human Services related field.
