ILS Practitioner / Mental Health Practitioner

Full-Time POSITION

 
 

REQUIRED SHIFTS: Shifts Vary

WAGE RANGE: $12.50-$17.00 per hour.

LOCATION: South St. Paul

DESCRIPTION: Mental Health Practitioner’s will provide training to individuals living in the community with diagnoses of a Mental Illness and/or Brain Injuries. A practitioner’s role will be working with participants in the following areas:

  • Crisis Intervention: providing support in the overnight hours in a crisis intervention role. A candidate must possess the clinical skills to de-escalate situations that may arise with participants. A candidate must also be able to discern when emergency services are necessary.
  • Communication Skills: a candidate must be able to communicate to lead staff during periods of crisis. Candidates must be able to problem solve independently, with participants and with supervisors to manage crisis situations.
  • Organizational Skills: overnight candidates must possess the skills to assist in filing, organization and other tasks that are directed by their supervisor.

MISCELLANEOUS: this position requires driving to programs to do rounds, some light cleaning of staff offices, and other various assigned tasks.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Applicants must be able to pass a Department of Human Services background check.

  • Applicants must be orientated in a person centered approach.

  • Applicants must be able to organize and work independently.

  • Applicants must have strong written and oral communications skills and must be able to document in an objective and effective manner.

  • Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.

  • Applicants must have a working vehicle with auto insurance which is valid.

  • Applicants must be able to lift 40 lbs or more.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: At least 1 year of experience working with persons with Mental Illness diagnoses, CD histories, Brain Injuries or Developmental Disability diagnoses.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: High School or equivalent.

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or another Human Services related field.
